Custom wp-cli commands
I'd love to be able to define a small set of wp-cli commands that appear in a context menu or elsewhere in the UI. 99% of my wp-cli usage is entering "wp migratedb profile 1" to fetch the latest changes from the server, and reducing that to a single click would be fantastic.
Allow updating the ./app/sql/local.sql, manually
When I build pages in Local, I use git to save my progress. This is really nice for versioning, but unfortunately, the database won't be synced with local.sql when I commit changes. Please give me a way to simply click on a button to update the local.sql with the contents of the database, so I can click it, before I commit my changes.
Remove host entry when stopping site
Please remove the hosts entries when I stop the site again, or at least, give me an option to do so. I might re-build a website with Wordpress and decide to use the live domain on my local instance, too. If the entry in my hosts file won't be deleted, automatically, I have to edit the hosts file on my own just to access the old live page, again.
PHP 8 support
PHP 8 is scheduled to be released November 26, 2020. There is active work being done to ensure WordPress is compatible. It would be nice if we could test using Local.
More PHP, MySQL, MariaDB versions
Hi love Local ! ... but I miss the ability to test updates for outdated client's websites. Sometimes servers doesn't have the last PHP version and we cannot anticipate an possible incompatibility. I would love to install custom PHP & DB versions. Now for exemple I want to try PHP 7.0.33 and MySQL 5.6.50 but I cannot. Maybe let us just upload manually a custom version ? I saw a lot of people interested by that feature : @rowatt : https://localwp.com/community/t/support-more-php-versions/94 , and https://localwp.com/community/t/installing-different-php-versions/519 @mrtorbert : https://localwp.com/community/t/additional-php-versions/1165 @Heliotropen : https://localwp.com/community/t/mysql-php-versions-supported/19683 @japiera : https://localwp.com/community/t/install-additional-php-versions/19455 @amanuensis : https://localwp.com/community/t/php-and-mysql-version-installs/15390 Make Local even more Amazing ! ❤️
Pull from Backup
It would be great to be able to pull directly from a backup. Thus, when pulling from Production we would have the option to pull the current live site or, choose from the backup list. This would be especially useful for debugging and resolving update conflicts so that we can quickly roll back to previous backup versions to find the last working site.
It would really be nice to have an integrated site backup in Local so we can keep progressive backups while developing and also a backup plugin that can be attached to the live site when published.
Replace Sequel Pro with Sequel Ace
The Sequel Pro project is not longer maintained. The community forked the project and created "Sequel Ace" ( https://github.com/Sequel-Ace/Sequel-Ace ). Is it possible to replace "Sequel Pro" with "Sequel Ace" on Local? For example: Change "Download Sequel Pro" button to "Download Sequel Ace" (and other button to open the database in Sequel Ace).
Pull only database so Git can continue to version files.
Request from WPE Support: If we had a way of only syncing the database while using Local this would allow Git to work alongside it so they get both advantages. Versioning files, while also allowing customers to deploy database changes without 1) contacting support, 2) logging in via SSH, importing, search & replacing etc. If we could push/pull only the database everything else is handled for them. It should be a pretty big QOL improvement.
Connect to remote FTP/MySQL server
I see all these requests for connecting to Hoster XYZ, but what would give the user the ultimate control is to implement a FTP and remote MySQL connection, that allows me to upload the developed site directly via FTP to my client. So every site should have a setting to set a remote FTP server and a remote MySQL server, where I can push my site/changes to the site to.
